Most people know tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, and to those of you who forgot, you’re welcome. But, what most people don’t know is that today is Self-Love Day. And, why is that?
In our society, we put such a high value on finding our “other half” and believing in the “happily ever after.” First of all, we are whole and complete as we are and don’t need someone else to complete us. But, in finding love, what people don’t talk about is HOW to do that. And, the how is…YOU.
Before we can love anyone else and before anyone else’s love will be enough, our own love has to be enough. Like my last post, we cannot pour from an empty cup. So, how can we fill other’s with love if we don’t have it for ourselves?
Today is a day to celebrate you. What are you successes? What are you strengths? What are some things you value and love about yourself? And, how will you begin to love yourself? (Need help with this? Well, just ask!) Now, share it with the world.
Self-love is not arrogance or vanity. Self-love is the quiet confidence. It is the sureness you have in who you are and what you stand for. Self-love is the “by lifting you up, I lift myself up. And, by lifting myself up, I in turn lift up others.” When we come into our power and worth we find our voice. And, this is the game changer for us all.
Why is self-love important and what difference will it make in your life?
Self-love means you understand your voice, worth, and power. It means that you know who you are, what your values are, and let them drive your life. Self-love creates healthy relationships and is assertive communication. It is understanding what your worth is personally, within your career, monetarily, and how you allows others to treat you. Self-love is courage and gives you the boost to go after your dreams. And, through self-love you love and acceptance yourself for all you are and understand that all other external love is a bonus. You do not need saving or fixing, you are whole and complete as you are.
So, go and celebrate self-love day and if you don’t know how, just ask. You are deserving of your own love and belonging.
